The Course
Designed by James Hamilton Stutt and opened in 1981, the course at Woodham Golf & Country Club is one of the most enjoyable in the North. Our course is set in 229 acres of mature parkland with picturesque lakes and dense woodland each hole is a delight to play.
Our well designed 73 par layout means there are no more than 2 par 4's in a row which makes for a very interesting game of golf. Woodham is a course designed for all golfers to enjoy with plenty of breather holes for the beginner, strategic holes for the seasoned player and scenic holes for everyone.
Construction of the golf course started in 1981, it was open for play in the spring of 1983 with the clubhouse arriving several years later. The course over the years has matured and each year is improving and now beginning to fulfil its undoubted potential.
The front 9 meanders through thick woodland where you can often spot our native deer in the summer. There are some great holes including Hole 5 a 550yd par 5 dog leg left (pictured top right) through the trees. The tee shot with trees left & right makes for a beautiful but dangerous hole.
The back 9 opens up a lot more but with wider fairways to hit from the tee, the greens are more guarded. Six holes on the back half are guarded by water either by a stream, a lake or in some cases both. The par 5 15th hole is a great hole with a big target to go for off the tee you then have to take on the stream to reach the island before finally hitting 100 yards over a vast lake which surrounds half of the green. Three well positioned shots are essential to hit this green in regulation.
With a great course, comfortable clubhouse & an experienced team of professionals we guarantee your time with us at Woodham will be most enjoyable.
